Vijay Chaat House
“The khopra pattice is a top-five Indore bite. Everything else on the menu is merely very good.”
Sixty-plus years at Chhappan Dukan, one dish carrying the flag: khopra pattice — a potato shell stuffed with spiced fresh coconut, fried to a shatter, and dressed with their green chutney. People move to other cities and describe this to strangers.
Order the pattice first and watch the counter: they fry continuously, so what you get has been out of the oil for seconds. The coconut filling is the trick — sweet, sharp and steaming against the crisp potato. At ₹40, order two rounds and skip the regret.
The rest of the chaat menu (dahi bada, tikki) is well above street average and fully veg, with Jain preparations on request — a genuine option for Jain families, which much of Chhappan is not. Two people eat properly for about ₹200.
